Hi Pal,
This short list covers albums that have already been announced or teased by the artists.
Young Oceans — Title Unknown
Just before the year 2023 ended, Eric Marshall (a.k.a Young Oceans) announced a new album and single for 2024 via his Instagram account. The new album — still untitled — is expected to drop in late winter of this year while the new single, titled Somehow, was released on January 8th.
Hymnbient — Title Unknown
Raphah, an ambient music project by Andrew Robinson became one of my go-to artists last year. This year, he has announced a new project called, Hymnbient, which will focus on reworking classic hymns into an instrumental ambient style. I’m not sure if this will become an album, but he will be releasing a series of singles, with the first coming out in February.
Andy Squyres — In Every Miracle Healing Service Someone Is Left Un-healed
On balance, this is my most anticipated album of the new year. I started listening to Andy Squyres early in 2023 and he is without a doubt, the best new entry in my music library. His music is crafted for introspective and deep reverence, and this album title feels like we will be doing a bit of that again. However, with the release of the single, Death Defying Joy, last year; I also love that he has a gleeful and happy side to his sound.
Eliza King — Title Unknown
This has been on my anticipated list for months now and anyone who has been here for a while has probably read a thing or two about the singles from this new album. At the time of writing this, three singles (Narrow Road, Olive Groove & My Help Comes) have been released and I believe the album will be out in the next few weeks.
Jess Ray — MATIN
On the 2nd of January, Jess Ray announced her new project via her Instagram page. It’s called MATIN, and it’s an intimate live music setlist of quiet songs and hymns. The first entry on this list is already out, which is a live rendition of the modern classic, His Eye Is On The Sparrow.
That’s it for today.
Catch you at the next one!
