Hi Pal,
My Review
Shepherd Bridge is a relatively new project with a creative direction that is highly conceptual. His musical influences on this single are obvious, as he walks the fine line between pulsating alternative folk and driving indie rock reminding me of some standout bands of the mid to late 2010s.
The contrast between the chorus and the verse brings an anxious energy to the song as it feels like the principal character is wrestling for a sense of belonging.
Daylight
Mind over matter fist-fights
Pens and hands that can't write
Wrong place right time
Sleepless night
Daydreaming
Wishful thinking
Cliff-hanger ending
Stories without beginnings
Subtract you from me
Then add you to a happy ending
And me to a place I can call home…
It’s clear that the tune is small piece of a larger narrative that will unfold as the album takes shape. Still, I can’t help but get excited at the sonic direction given because he seems to be taping into writing style that is not common place even with the vibrancy of the scene today.

Meet Shepherd Bridge
Shepherd Bridge is an alternative music project by Tyler Daniel. It intended to be a vessel in all forms of the word, specifically in the form of a coming novel and album. While it is the name of a ship in the upcoming novel as well as the name of this musical project, more importantly, it’s a means to share Tyler’s walk with Jesus Christ through the darkness of depression and abandonment and to the glorious moment of redemption and rebirth.
God is good, true, and beautiful. In this creative expression of testimony, Tyler seeks to deliver this message through avenues beyond biography to the ears and eyes of Christians and non-Christians who might be exploring their own faith.
Song Inspiration
"Daylight" is one chapter of this concept project that conveys the effect being abandoned might have on those left behind. Written when Tyler was 17 grappling with the effects of being abandoned by his biological father, it is but a snap-shot of a larger picture that ends with hope.
The upcoming album and companion novel will be out soon! Stay tuned for dates.
