Hi Pal,
Welcome to Rapid Recommendations. A newsletter where I attempt to find new and creative ways to show you your new favourite album, song or artist.
You can check out the albums on all platforms using the embedded links on the titles. Also, I’m currently walking towards 100 subscribers here. I want to hit that target before the year ends. If you end up enjoying this, please consider sharing it with folks that you know.
About a month ago, I wrote a Part 1 to this that you can check out. As a refresher, The Artsy Ones is a newsletter dedicated to albums that have impressed me with the ways that they balance artistic expression with the Christian message. These are albums that do not necessarily fit into the established norms of congregational worship but are still rooted in a deep commitment to God.
While the previous list focused on albums with electronic, art, indie, experimental, dreamy and synth elements; today’s list is for albums within the folk spectrum. As with the first part of this, I will keep my recommendations to three-sentence blurbs at most.
Josh Garrels — Home [Alternative Folk]
2015
This list would have been incomplete without him. Any of his albums could have made this list. For me, Home is the quintessential Josh Garrels album.
Songs To Listen To; Born Again; A Long Way; Always Be
Yaz Williams — Something Like A Secret [Indie Folk]
2021
There’s no one quite like her around the scene today. This is a beautiful and unique listening experience.
