you're always around
Sandra McCracken, Before Flags, James David William, Ethan Nathaniel & More
Hi Pal,
Welcome to Right Now! This is a newsletter where I do a quick rundown of some songs from projects released within the past month that I can’t get enough of. But first, a little housekeeping…
Right Now! is a Newsletter for paid subscribers. I recently transitioned into creating paid content and although most of my other content is free, I have started creating new content for paid subscribers. If you’re willing to support my work here, please consider it.
New Unknown — Jesus Loves Electro, David André Østby
Jesus Loves Electro is a project that I’ve been familiar with for a little while. The Norwegian DJ is quickly becoming a household name in the Christian EDM scene. David André Østby is a new introduction to my playlist and by all indications, is one that is here to stay. His singer-songwriter style blends well with JLE to create a wonderful acoustic electronic song.
The Lost Colony — Becoming The Archetype
Becoming The Archetype has returned! It feels a bit odd typing that after almost a decade of silence from this band. The trio are back with a new single and a new album announcement. My first thought about ‘The Lost Colony’ was simple: veterans will always be veterans. Jason Wisdom, Brent Duckett and Seth Hecox have stepped back into the scene like they never even left, giving me some of the tastiest riffs I’ve heard recently.
Trinity Song — Sandra McCracken
Still on the theme of veterans, while drifting far away from the metal scene, Sandra McCracken is one of the consistent voices in the Christian Singer-Songwriter space. Her new album, Light In The Canyon, is a must-listen for all fans of the genre. Still, even in this collection of beautiful songs, ‘Trinity Song’ stands out. The smooth trumpets, her soothing voice and the powerful lyrics are a perfect match. It is by no means a new song but this is my favourite version.
