The Welcome Wagon, RED Hands, Jonathan Ogden & More
Hi Pal,
Welcome to this edition of Right Now, a newsletter where I list out some recently released tunes that I love at the moment and give you reasons to love them too.
I’m currently walking towards 100 subscribers here. I want to hit that target before the year ends. Stick around for the updated playlist at the end. Also, you can check out the songs on all platforms using the embedded links on the titles.
Garden by Jonathan Ogden
We kick off today’s list with my most played song of the week by a country mile. I knew the new Jonathan Ogden album was going to be great, but I’m not quite sure I expected it to grow on me the way it has over the past two weeks. Garden is a beautiful indie fusion song with R&B sensibilities. This sound has become a staple for Ogden but he keeps finding a way to keep things fresh.
palm of your hand by Isaac Wheadon
I’m so glad that Isaac Wheadon is back from his brief hiatus. He’s one of my favourite electronic/lo-fi artists and on this track, he sounds refreshed. As the first track of his upcoming return project, this song sets the stage nicely with its soothing saxophone sounds and catchy licks.
Who Could Know (Subjects) by Young Oceans, Tenielle Neda
A lot could go wrong with a “reimagination project” of any kind. People tend to form attachments with the things they like and do not always appreciate change. I think Eric Marshall — Young Oceans — strikes a nice balance on the new album, Subjects In Motion, somehow managing to make all the songs sound fresh and coherent. Who Could Know (Subjects) stands as the only original tune on the album and it’s my current favourite.
COVERED by RED Hands, Anita Wilson
RED Hands is back! I’ve been waiting on this for a bit and the new album is finally here. RED Hands, for those who are unfamiliar with their stuff, is one of the best funk/soul/gospel bands on the scene. Their new album, The Family Album, is another brilliant addition to their discography. COVERED is the album closer and it is an absolute banger. I highly recommend it to all fans of the genre(s)
The Autumn Song by Sarah Sparks
I think I speak for many people when I say that we need a new album from this woman. That being said, we’ll take anything that is on offer and this tune is as beautiful as I’ve come to expect from her. Christian folk will not be the same without women like Sparks and I’m glad she keeps dropping heartfelt songs like this.
Noble Tree by The Welcome Wagon
Esther is one of the best Christian albums of 2022. It’s certainly one of my top ten albums of the year and I can’t wait to share my albums list with you. Until then, let’s bask in the wonderful goodness of Noble Tree.
That’s it for today.
See you soon!

"Autumn Song" by Sarah Sparks of course. But then again, it's the only one I've listened to a fair number of times.
I'm back! So I want to try the RED Hands album cos I really loved the one song I listened to. Off to give it a try!
