Press Release For New Single by Zambroa
Bio: Zambroa is the musical project of Josiah who lives in Tuolumne, California. When not making music, he is the father of 6 kids, husband to a beautiful wife and serves as a deacon in his local church.
Background & Inspiration: From Zambroa
Go To Church is a song about the supernatural nature of the communion of saints, worshipping and doing life together in a local congregation. It’s something I’ve always tended to downplay throughout my life.
I never considered how much the apostles gave themselves to establish and define the parameters of the congregation, from leadership to order. The local church’s role is one of the most incredible means of grace and sanctification that the Lord has provided for His people. From the sacraments and word preached, to singing and fellowship; the church is God’s prescription to transform His people into the image of Jesus Christ.
My Thoughts
The song kicks off with a slight droning effect on the guitars as the drums come to life. On first listen, the song turned out to be much calmer than I initially expected while still maintaining a lot of the shoegaze/dream pop undertones that I’ve come to expect from a lot of Zambroa songs.
Lyrically I’m struck by the words:
“You will be known by your love, you will be known by your love for one another…”
Evidently inspired by the words of Jesus in John 13:35 and a timely reminder of the importance of communion and fellowship.
As a concluding thought, the one word I’d use to describe this song is intimacy. Everything about its composition feels like it was crafted to evoke thoughts of closeness. From the call and response between the “uuu” chants and the lyrics of the chorus, to the ethereal vocal approach typically associated with shoegaze songs; they all come together to create a sense of longing for the church both here in this world and for the one to come.
