Music Recap for June 2023
Former Ruins, Wind and Sail, Jonny Henninger and more.
Hi Pal.
Welcome to the monthly wrap for June! The Monthly Wrap is a monthly newsletter where I give a rundown of my favourite musical highlights of the past month.
Under The Lights
As always, our ears were blessed with a diverse catalogue of releases. Former Ruins finally dropped an album that I have been expecting for almost two years and No Creature Is Hidden is everything I wanted and more. With songs spanning indie rock, post-punk revival and folk rock; it’s a beautiful release. Jimmy Clifton also released his new album, There’s Proof Of God But Time Is Short and it’s up there with the top indie folk releases of the year. Wind and Sail and Ben Trip both released terrific alternative/indie EPs titled Wild Edge and What My Heart Desires. If you’re looking for wonderful folky tunes based on scriptures, check out SHEMA vol. 2 by Will Carlisle.
Switching gears to some alternative R&B, Jonny Henninger released So Much To Say (Pt. II). Sarah Nathalié also dropped her new EP with love, always ♡. morning always comes by Sajan Nauriyal is also a much-needed addition to your favourite alternative playlists.
On the ambient front, Raphah graced us with a new, soothing EP titled Though Mountains Fall. Antarctic Wastelands and We Dream of Eden also dropped a collaborative EP titled, Transitions.
