Music Recap for July 2023
For Tuesday, Searching Serenity, The Arcadian Wild, and more.
Hi Pal.
Welcome to the monthly wrap for July! The Monthly Wrap is a monthly newsletter where I give a rundown of my favourite musical highlights of the past month.
Under The Lights
If you ask me, I’m already looking forward to the music releases for August because everything I’ve seen tells me it’s going to be packed! However, this doesn't mean that July didn’t give us its own gems. For Tuesday finally dropped Zechariah, an experimental indie concept album inspired by the book of the Bible with the same name and it’s pretty good. Singer-songwriter, Kendra Blethen gifted us with Living Proof, another cool addition to this year’s catalogue of folk albums. Speaking of folk albums, The Arcadian Wild also dropped their new album, Welcome, and you should give it a listen. I also recently discovered Jack Field and his new folk EP, No Place Like Home, is a soothing listen.
For the most part, I think this month was one for heavy music. Beatdown hardcore band, Cultist, dropped their new album Slow Suicide. It’s reverent and I encourage any fans of the genre to listen. Searching Serenity also brings the chugs and breakdowns to the party on their new deathcore album, Retribution. I also discovered a fairly new melodic hardcore band, xDOULOSx, whose new album, Birth Pains is a welcome addition to my playlist. Industrial Deathcore project, Hard Look, also dropped a new EP titled, Omnexus.
Those familiar with this newsletter know how much I love ambient artists. Young Collective dropped a new album titled, In The Image. Antarctic Wastelands also has a new EP, Worlds: Apart. They are quite calming and come highly recommended.
