Hi Pal.
Welcome to the monthly wrap for August! The Monthly Wrap is a monthly newsletter where I give a rundown of my favourite musical highlights of the past month.
Under The Lights
August was great with a lot to sink your teeth into. Sam Bowman released one of the best pop albums of the year in Ghost. Slow Renaissance by Josh Gauton is an emotional indie release that every fan should check out. Blending worship with art rock and electronic-pop elements has become a specialty of Colorvault and their sophomore album, And Be With You, is proof of that.
Emissary, Zambroa, and Lion of Judah all dropped EPs that reflect different aspects of the indie rock spectrum. Paper Planes: Part 1, a glass, darkly and Ghosts are all contenders for my top EPs of the year.
Rachel Wilhelm also dropped a new concept album called Jeremiah, based on the same book from the Bible. Chris Renzema’s Manna Pt. 1 is going to be on repeat for a bit and Anita Tatlow’s brand of experimental dark ambient /art pop on Lights is a highlight for the year. As always, for my ambient instrumental fans, We Dream of Eden has you covered on this flickering light.
