The Monthly Wrap | 09 | October
Inside: Jonathan Ogden, Some Were At Sea, Hannah Oliver, Xael and more.
Hi Pal.
Welcome to the monthly wrap for October. The Monthly Wrap is a monthly newsletter where I give a rundown of my favourite musical highlights of the past month.
I’m currently walking towards 100 subscribers here. I want to hit that target before the year ends. Stick around for the updated playlist at the end. Also, you can check out the singles and albums on all platforms using the embedded links on the titles.
Under The Lights
I know I’m a little late to this one, I had a hectic last day of October. Here are my 10 favourite projects released this month.
Earlier in the month, I discovered Hannah Oliver, a soulful singer-songwriter through her new album, Little Small Adventure. The highly anticipated Future Forever by Jonathan Ogden also dropped. Ogden’s versatility continues to shine through on this album and I look forward to how his solo career shapes up outside of Rivers & Robots. Muntjac’s Jubilee is the crowning jewel of my album releases list. I have had my heart set on this project for a few months now and it did not disappoint.
The EP releases of October make up most of this list. Kicking off with four instrumental EPs (three ambient and one lofi hip-hop) that are all unique and beautiful in their own ways — Theophany by Some Were At Sea; Resting Place by Be Still the Earth and Broken Peak; luminance by Antarctic Wastelands and Nectar by Xael. Also, indie newcomer, Hannah Honey, dropped her debut EP, Stinger.
Finally, Tenielle Neda compiled all her 2022 releases into Love ‘Cause We’re Loved and Anne Wilson brought an early delivery of the Christmas Spirit with The Manger.
